First AI generated research book

Will books be written on demand in the future?

According to Springer Nature, the scientific publisher has just produced the first book written by an AI. The work is a summary of the current state of research into lithium-ion batteries and was generated by a text analysis algorithm named Beta Writer. The algorithm was developed by the Applied Computational Linguistics department at Frankfurt’s Goethe University and can be downloaded for free: “Lithium-Ion Batteries – A Machine-Generated Summary of Current Research”

Don’t expect too much, you might find the content a little dry unless you are really into batteries. The interesting part is the discussions that the creators of the AI generated content raised in terms of authorship, responsibility as well as ethics.
